Classic Hummus

Sauce, Dips & Dressings


400g tin of drained chickpeas

1 clove garlic (peeled)

2 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cumin

3 tbsp lemon juice

200ml olive oil


Combine in a food processor until smooth, you may need to add a little water to loosen it up a bit.   Adjust the salt/lemon to taste.

Recipe Notes:

This is the basic hummus recipe, you can jazz it up in lots of ways but if you want to stick to the classic, serve this scattered with a few whole chickpeas, chopped flat leaf parsley and a pinch of ground cumin.  You can add a few drops of extra virgin olive oil too.   See my other Hummus recipes for more ideas!

Keeps in the fridge for about 5 days in a sealed container.
